Toblach – picture postcard beauty in the Dolomites

Park Hotel Bellevue is situated in picturesque Toblach (at 1,256 m altitude), for its stunning view of the Three Peaks referred to as the Gateway to the Dolomites

The historic town centre, featuring the stately Baroque parish church, Herbstenburg castle, the Red Tower and the Englös House, is worth taking a leisurely stroll to visit.

Toblach is a popular Dolomite holiday destination, in summer especially among hikers, climbers and mountain-bikers. Many guests from the cities and southern regions as well are attracted by the clear mountain air and the refreshing summer climate surrounding this picture postcard town. Families are especially attracted by the Drau River cycle path, which starts directly beside Park Hotel Bellevue and finishes after an easy 42 kilometres in the Austrian town of Lienz.

While not a seaside town, Toblach is famous for an abundance of water resources. One of the possibilities is to visit the source of the Drau River, just a light 15-minute stroll starting immediately from the hotel. Toblacher See and Dürrensee, two natural lakes, along with eight water treasure sites attest to the ‘source of life’ in abundance.

Culture in Dobbiaco

Toblach has also achieved cultural fame. Renowned composer Gustav Mahler used his numerous summer stays here to compose works such as his Ninth Symphony, his unfinished Tenth Symphony and the Lied von der Erde (Song of the Earth). Still today, in the Gustav Mahler Häuschen you can admire items dating back to his days as a composer. Each year the Gustav Mahler Music Weeks are held in his honour, attracting music enthusiasts to spend holidays in Toblach in mid-July.
